Award Description
This qualification trains and assesses candidates in the skills required to lead hillwalking groups in summer conditions on mountainous routes not requiring the planned use of a rope. Established in 1964, this was the first qualification created by Mountain Training.
5 Day Mountain Leader Assessment Course based in North Wales. Covering all aspects of the syllabus as set out in the handbook. Delivered by our team of passionate and professional instructors who are all experienced in the delivery of the course and working within the scope of the Mountain Leader scheme. The residential includes Self Catering accommodation in a modern bunkhouse deep in the heart of Snowdonia. The Course Director will be Martin Lowe. Martin holds the Mountaineering Instructor Certificate and is an experienced ML trainer and assessor. As well as being an instructor across a wide range of activities Martin is also an AALA inspector. The course also includes an optional 1 day refresher course on the 20th of March. This will be run in the Brecon Beacons.
