Award Description
This award trains and assesses candidates in the skills required to supervise climbers on single pitch crags and climbing walls. Common activities undertaken by an SPA holder will be roped climbing and bouldering. The SPA does not include the skills and techniques required to teach lead climbing.
About
Single Pitch Award Assessment Course Apex Training has been providing courses for over 20 years and is based in the Lake District which allows us to spend as much time in the superb Lakeland fells as possible. The courses are residential (from the night before the course starts) self-catering, using modern bunkhouse style accommodation with good facilities/Wi-Fi etc. The course will cover the syllabus as laid out by Mountain Training with the days complemented by evening lectures/workshops. http://www.mountain-training.org/climbing/awards/single-pitch-award Dates include the arrival day (accommodation available), the course starts the following morning.
