Award Description
This qualification trains and assesses candidates in the skills required to lead walking groups in winter conditions in the mountains. The use of crampons and axes is covered in the scheme. It builds on the skills acquired in the Mountain Leader qualification, which candidates must hold to access the Winter Mountain Leader scheme.

Richard is the only independent Winter ML provider in the west running both training and assessment courses. When booking with us you know who you will get during the training or assessment..me! One of the most experienced and well known providers and winter coaches and instructors in Scotland who lives here all year round. Unlike other providers, we don't advertise or try and run dozens of these courses. We just run a couple a year so we can try and ensure they fill and run. Accommodation will be arranged in good quality self catering, probably Calluna. The cost of this is reflected in the residential cost price. The course is based out of Fort William.
