Award Description
This international award trains and assesses candidates in the skills required to guide climbing (including the coaching of lead climbing) skiing and mountaineering on rock, snow & ice, and in alpine terrain. It is administered by the BMG to the standards set by the International Federation of Mountain Guides Associations (IFMGA). The Guideās carnet is an extensively used professional award.
BMG SKI TOURING ASSESSMENT This is a 6 day assessment for Ski Touring and off-piste skiing. Day 0: Evening meeting and briefing in Chamonix Sud, Hotel Aiglons, 6.30pm. Day 1: Lift-access off-piste ski day in Chamonix valley Day 2: Technical day tour in the Chamonix valley Days 3-6: Hut-to-hut tour. Exact route depends on conditions at the time. Candidates will need to bring an avalanche notebook with 10 recent (this season) snow profiles, and a signed, up-to-date logbook, detailing experience on skis through the season (minimum 15 days, including 10 days hut-to-hut touring. Tours must be at least 3 day trips to count) More details will be provided nearer the time!
