Award Description
This qualification trains and assesses candidates in the skills required to lead hillwalking groups in summer conditions on mountainous routes not requiring the planned use of a rope. Established in 1964, this was the first qualification created by Mountain Training.
This is a Split Weekend course. 14/16th and 28/30th. There is a weekend off in between so often an opportunity to hone your skills. The assessment starts on the Friday evening of the 14th with the assessment briefing, . Day 1 is Saturday with a mountain day. Day 2 is Sunday with an emphasis on security on steep ground. The second 'long weekend' starts at 10 am on the Friday 28th, which is the start of the expedition this involves two nights wild camping. Both weekends finish by 4.30 pm on the Sundays.
