Award Description
This international award trains and assesses candidates in the skills required to guide climbing (including the coaching of lead climbing) skiing and mountaineering on rock, snow & ice, and in alpine terrain. It is administered by the BMG to the standards set by the International Federation of Mountain Guides Associations (IFMGA). The Guide’s carnet is an extensively used professional award.
Avalanche Hazard Evaluation; considerations for a Scottish snowpack This day is funded by the Chris Walker Trust www.chriswalkertrust.co.uk Chris was a highly talented, accomplished and popular mountaineer who loved to share his enthusiasm, knowledge and skills with others. He already held the MIC, was a full member of the Association of Mountaineering Instructors and no doubt would have fulfilled his life-long dream of becoming a British Mountain Guide. The trust offers funding to the BMG and AMI to further their members’ and the public’s knowledge and understanding of avalanches and their hazards in the Scottish winter environment.
