In 2023 Mountain Training improved the Leadership section of the walking leader qualifications. This workshop is about how we turn desired leadership characteristics into leadership behaviours. We start indoors with some brainstorming and planning, then go out on a walk to work through practical leadership behaviours.

In the afternoon we will spend some time researching the benefits of walking. We'll  investigate how knowledge of the benefits of walking in the rain, the dark, by rivers, up hills, carrying a rucksack and much more can enhance our leadership and set up the people we lead for a lifetime of healthy walking.

Our learning and actions will be related to good leadership models such as the INSPIRE model favoured by Mountain Training. You will leave with your own personal action plan.

The workshop is led by Mike Raine, WMCI, qualified teacher and author of The Mountain Leader - a practical manual

The workshop will be run from the classroom above Alpkit in Betws y Coed. Alpkit kindly offers attendees on these workshops a 10% discount in store. You will need a packed lunch, drinks and be equipped to go for a walk in the prevailing conditions.
