Movement on rock! - techniques and tactics for leading trad
Move better on rock and feel better on trad leads!
This workshop will take you through some key movement techniques and tactics I've noticed make the biggest difference to people leading on rock. This workshop is designed to help you improve your skillset for personal trad leads, and help you become a more solid climber as you move towards the RCDI qualification, or want to consolidate your leads as an RCI instructor.
Who is this workshop for?
You will need to be a qualified RCI to attend this workshop. This workshop is also suitable for people interested in teaching and coaching others on rock. You'll need to be climbing at least Severe to get the most out of this workshop.
Workshop content:
Key movement styles will include: steep bulges, bridging and pushing, improving your footwork and having clear strategies for lead climbs.
Most content will be practised on top rope, and there will be no pressure or expectation to lead climbing during the day.
When? This session will run on Wednesday 6th August from 09.30am - 4.30pm, and there will be a maximum group size of 4.
Where? We will use crags in Langdale, but exact venues sill be decided once we have a weather forecast.
Shared transport can be available from Keswick for anyone travelling by public transport.
I will also be running a 'trust your trad gear' coaching workshop on Tuesday 5th August if you would like to attend both days!
What do I need to bring? As well as suitable outdoor clothing, you need to bring your own personal climbing equipment (harness, helmet, rock shoes, belay device), and a trad rack/rope.
