Whilst teaching leading is a key element of the MCI scheme, many MCIs/WMCIs who competently teach leading on crags have limited experience of teaching leading indoors in the contrasting and unique environment of the climbing wall.

This is a day long workshop for MCIs/WMCIs (Full and Trainees) who wish to improve their knowledge and increase their skill set for teaching lead climbing on indoor walls, or for those instructors who have limited opportunity to teach indoor leading who would like a focused refresher day.

This workshop will investigate elements from the CWDI syllabus that might be lesss familiar to MCI/WMCI holders. These may include: progressions in to lead climbing, use of the boukdering wall to teach movement skills for leaders, clipping techniques and progressions, lead belaying progressions, when and how to introduce dybamic belaying, recent innovations in belay devices relevant to lead climbers and belayers.

The workshop will be run by Alan Halewood a past climbing wall manager and current technical expert working in walls as well as being an experienced CWDI provider.

Please bring your indoor climbing kit and a pair kf comfortable rock shoes as well as any belay devices or other relevant equipment you wish to discuss. 

The workshops price is £30pp and you are responsible for your own wall entry fee.
