Award Description
This qualification trains and assesses candidates in the skills required to lead hillwalking groups in summer conditions on mountainous routes not requiring the planned use of a rope. Established in 1964, this was the first qualification created by Mountain Training.
Mountain Leader (ML) Training – Split Course Format
Location: Yr Hafod (ScoutsCymru Mountain Training Centre, Nant Ffrancon)
Our Mountain Leader Training course runs across two weekends, making it ideal for those unable to commit to a full week due to work or other mid-week commitments.
Arrival and Accommodation
We recommend arriving the evening before the course begins. The centre will be open from 7:30pm for arrivals.
If you choose the fully residential course, with participants leaving and returning to the centre each day when undertaking daytime training. All meals are provided, except during the expedition phase, where you will need to supply your own food.
Course Dates
Weekend 1: 4,5,6, September
Weekend 2: 18,19,20 September
Please note: Attendance on both weekends is required to complete the course.
