WORKSHOP CONTENT & LEARNING OUTCOMES
This is a great opportunity to practice your navigation skills at night and in poor visibility, something that is a required skill in LL, HML and ML awards.
There will be opportunity to practice lots of core night nav skills such as pacing, timing and relocation. We will literally spend some time walking round in circles,walking on bearings and using attack points effectively.
Sence Valley is a Lowland area and most of the session will be on paths and tracks.This is a good opportunity to brush up on the basics with your peers.
PARKING: NB the Sence Valley car park is locked at night. Please park sensitively in the housing estate opposite and cross the road to walk into the Sence Valley Forest Car Park where we will meet. Take care crossing this road as it can be busy.
EQUIPMENT/KIT REQUIRED
Personal walking kit and clothing approporate for the weather, including head torch and spares, plus a compass and OS Explorer Map OL245.
CATERING/FOOD
Bring snacks and drinks to cover you during our evening's activities.
WORKSHOP PROVIDER CREDENTIALS
Katy Draper is an HML and LL and qualified navigation tutor with Tutor, Gold, Silver and Bronze NNAS Awards. She is Assistant Regional Coordinator for the MTA in the East Midlands and Anglia Region and an active member of Leicestershire Search and Rescue. Katy is a passionate nature connector and forest bather as well as being a registered general nurse and a business and personal coach.
