Top tips for getting to a Mountain Training walking qualification assessment and for passing first time. A look at strategies to prepare for assessment. Themes include goalsetting, practical considerations e.g. when to book a course, final preparations, support networks, assessment standards, questions about the syllabus requirements, what to expect on assessments. Also the psychological aspects of assessment pressure, how to help yourself perform well, 'what if' scenarios.

Esther Foster has worked in the outdoor industry for 15 years, and is passionate about helping others to develop both their personal and leadership skills in climbing, mountaineering and hillwalking.
Esther holds the MCI award, as well as the Development Coach, RCI and ML, and delivers RCI and RCDI courses in the Lake District. She knows what it's like to feel the pressure of assessments, and is always keen to make training and assessment courses a really positive experience for candidates.
