DG Climbing Coaching courses are run by Danielle Griffith; a highly regarded, qualified and experienced climbing coach with many years of experience. Working with climbers and coaches across the whole spectrum of ages and abilities; from beginners taking their first steps through to athletes competing at World Championships.

All courses are designed to be fully accessible and inclusive to anyone wishing to partake, for any specific requirements or considerations please send an email to:  dgclimbingcoaching@gmail.com

THE COURSE:

The FUNdamentals Workshops are taught at indoor climbing walls, and are designed for anyone who currently coaches climbing, wants to coach or support climbers, or wishes to develop their coaching and/or personal climbing skills.

The courses equip participants with transferable skills and learning to other sports and careers in health and fitness specifically.

The FUNdamentals stage should be the basis for any climber or active person, irrespective of the activities they ultimately engage with, be that competition climbing, rock climbing, bouldering, ice climbing or alpinism; or other sports.

The long term participation development stages following FUNdamentals address sport specific requirements such as technique and training as well as targeting the underlying importance of a person centered approach.

These courses are often useful for not just aspiring and experienced coaches. But for all coaches as continual professional development, whether they work indoor as a climbing assistant or outside as a mountaineering and climbing instructor. Often people choose to do these courses multiple times as each course is unique to the provider and the participants who attend. They can also be useful for anyone wanting to better improve their understanding for their personal climbing journey and improved performance.

The FUNdamentals 1 & 2 courses are requirements for various Mountain Training coaching qualification pathways.

These courses can also be useful for parents of youth climbers to understand how to safely keep their children engaged and prevent injury/burn out.

For youth climbers from NICAS, climbing clubs or squads (14+) for building confidence and adding transferable skills to their CV.

As well as people who are assisting or running climbing clubs, from University teams to social climbing clubs. The skills learnt from these courses can help people to be more considerate and successful in supporting climbers in a casual or professional capacity.
