WORKSHOP CONTENT & LEARNING OUTCOMES
A course for mountain proffesionals looking at how we can better interpret the Welsh landscape via a pragmatic understanding of key Welsh language landscape terms. Focusing on 15 key terms along with related adjectives and descriptors. The terms covered include terms for mountains, ridges, valleys, cliffs, woods, and more along with colours and size terms.
By the end of the course you should be in a position to be able to interpret a range of feature names as well as knowing some of the history of those names.
EQUIPMENT/KIT REQUIRED
You will need your usual hill kit including a warm jacket and waterproofs along with a pen and a notebook. The workshop comes with a substantial booklet covering the terms discussed along with other material that you will recieve on the day.
WORKSHOP PROVIDER CREDENTIALS
Aled Oddy is a Summer Mountain Leader along with holding a number of Climbing awards and having a healthy CPD record. Growing up in Wales he studied Cymraeg (Welsh) throughout school but has also studied the field of Welsh place names specifically. Aled has given talks to both Bangor University Linguistics Society and The Snowdonia Society.

CANCELLATION PROCEDURE
If you wish to cancel please email us at aled@aof.cymru. If you inform us more than two weeks before the event you will get a full refund whilst between then and 7 days before the event you will be entitled to a 50% refund. Beyond 7 days before the event you will not be entitled to a full or partial refund.
WHAT HAPPENS AFTER THE EVENT
Your CPD record - If you attend this event and it counts as CPD, your CPD point/s will automatically be added to your record in due course - you will not need to add it yourself.
