Award Description
The Lowland Leader qualification has been designed for people who wish to lead groups on day walks in lowland countryside and woodland in summer conditions. The majority of the UK and Ireland is made up of this type of terrain so you'll never be short of places to go walking.
A fun and informative course assessing the skills and knowledge required to hold the Lowland Leader award. This two day course based on the edge of Dartmoor National Park will assess all aspects of the Lowland Leader syllabus through practical tasks, demonstrations and discussion. Each day will normally run from 0900-1700. Candidates will be expected to complete a home study paper which should be brought to the course. Candidates must: Have completed a Lowland Leader training course or have been granted exemption from Mountain Training. Have completed an absolute minimum of 20 Lowland Walks as described in the Lowland Leader Handbook. Hold a valid 16hr First Aid certificate - this must be presented at assessment.
