Award Description
This qualification trains and assesses candidates in the skills required to lead hillwalking groups in summer conditions on mountainous routes not requiring the planned use of a rope. Established in 1964, this was the first qualification created by Mountain Training.
This is a 6 day, 'split weekend' course. The course will be run in the north west lake district on weekend 1.
The course starts on the Fridays at 10 am and and finishes at 4.30 pm on the Sundays. The residential cost of £395 includes bed and breakfast accommodation in Derwentwater Independent Hostel.
Several candidates are on the course on a non residential basis. Several candidates are booked on the hostel.
On weekend 2 which may be in the NE or Sw Lakes, we will camp wild on a one night on an expedition. We will also complete a night navigation.
