Communications 2 hours Communications have improved beyond recognition in the last twenty years. Whatever equipment you decide to use, an effective communications plan is essential. This includes batteries and charging of all the various items as well as clearly defined evacuation plans and emergency actions.
Equipment Selection 2 hours Deserts as opposed to Alpine or Arctic environments need very little specialised kit. But nevertheless choosing the right equipment is vital. We will discuss the pros and cons of various items as well anecdotes from various expeditions over the past.
Principals of Leadership 4 hours Good leadership (especially under stressful circumstances) is paramount on expedition. As a group we will discuss the qualities of a good leader, leadership styles, traits and attitudes. Your personal core values, managing stress and decision making. We will explore this further on modules three and four.
Hostile Environment Awareness 4 hours The world has sadly become considerably more militarised in recent years and it is now more and more common to have deal with or work around military personnel on expedition. This part of the course deals with situational awareness, check point etiquette as well as conflict resolution and identifying key risks.
