Award Description
The Expedition Skills Module is an optional module available to walking leaders. It's an opportunity to increase your skills where you will be trained and assessed to lead groups on multi day camping expeditions.
This is a residential course run out of Okehampton Camp on Dartmoor. No non-residential option exists as the course includes some evening classroom work. Candidates will need to have their own equipment as none is available for loan for this course. You will also need to have logged at least 10 nights camping [not including festivals or family glamping trips!]. This course is only open to Cadet/HM Forces personnel. Joining instructions will be emailed out to all candidates once the course has been finalised. Please state in any booking enquiry what Unit, Wing and Region you are from. Priority is afforded to South West Region ATC first, followed by other ATC candidates, then ACF, SCC, CCF, AF personnel. NB For RAFAC Personnel ONLY, where you have been trained and assessed at LLA/HML through RAFAC course directors, successful completion of this course will also give you the DofE ESTC [Expedition Skills Training Certificate] which is mandated wrt any ventures that include remote supervision. External candidates cannot be accepted for insurance reasons. Bookings will only be confirmed once the payment has been received.
