The Hill & Mountain Skills scheme is a great way to develop your personal skills and confidence in all elements of hill and mountain walking. From planning a coastal walk to navigating in complex terrain, these courses are an ideal opportunity to learn the basics and enjoy the countryside. THIS IS NOT THE HILL AND MOORLAND LEADER SCHEME.
This Mountain Skills course run by Leading Edge is an ideal choice for ramblers and hikers interested in transferring their skills to more mountainous walking terrain. A Leading Edge Mountain Skills course is an excellent mix of theory and practical content. Most of your day will be out in the mountains, moving away from the trails and into steeper, rockier terrain. We help you learn about and develop your skills with weather, navigation, movement in steep ground and managing risk in this fantastic environment. Leading Edge runs an optional evening session, either a walk into darkness or an additional teaching session on other elements of the course syllabus. On the 5 day course there is also the opportunity to experience a two day expedition through the mountains with a wild camp. Just like our Mountain Training Hill Skills Course this one is very much tailored to you. We are extremely experienced at working with a wide variety of client ability on the same course. We will make the whole course feel very bespoke and ensure you get the right quantity of instruction, support and coaching all delivered at a pace that suits you. Our friendly, open and inclusive style allows for the asking of any questions and airing concerns. A highly positive and rewarding course which will do wonders for confidence in the mountains. Completion of this course gains accredition from Mountain Training. We will meet at Petes Eats Cafe on the first morning and start the course with an informal chat before we head to the mountains.
