Award Description
This qualification trains and assesses candidates in the skills required to lead hillwalking groups in summer conditions on mountainous routes not requiring the planned use of a rope. Established in 1964, this was the first qualification created by Mountain Training.
Candidates will need to have undertaken a training course and fulfilled all requirements of the scheme before assessment. During the course you will undergo continuous assessment where you will need to demonstrate your competence in all aspects of the syllabus. The course involves a 3-day expedition. The course fee includes necessary specialist equipment, instruction, transport whilst on the course, course administration and catered accommodation. Not included: Transport to and from Plas Pencelli or personal accident insurance. The Centre holds professional indemnity and 3rd party liability insurance policies.
