Award Description
The Lowland Leader qualification has been designed for people who wish to lead groups on day walks in lowland countryside and woodland in summer conditions. The majority of the UK and Ireland is made up of this type of terrain so you'll never be short of places to go walking.
This two-day Lowland Leader Award training course will be directed by one of the country's most experienced Mountain Training Course Directors, Andy Newton, and be based in the iconic hillwalking village of Llanberis.
The various syllabus areas of the award will be covered, including such subjects as the Mountain Training Award framework, Competence, Legal Issues, Navigation, Countryside Environment and Access, Weather, Equipment, Hazards, Emergency Situations, and Aspects of Leadership.
We will use appropriate terrain in the surrounding area to look at the practical aspects of the scheme.
