Who is the course suitable for?
This course is for anyone preparing for the International Mountain Leader summer assessment.
What does the course cover?
The preparation weekend is geared towards those aspects of the syllabus that candidates generally benefit from addition training on prior to undertaking assessment. These can be divided into the following two sections:
Day One
Leadership
Navigation
Environmental knowledge
Day Two
Personal movement skills
Use of the rope and dealing with fixed equipment
Route choice, hazard awareness and management
Who Runs the Course?
The week will be run by Rob Johnson MIC & IML and Bryn Williams MIC & IML.
Between us we have more than 15 years of working as International Mountain Leaders all around the world and have worked on IML courses at Plas y Brenin. We are both course directors for the ML scheme and additionally have a vast experience of the NGB awards between us. Perhaps even more importantly we are both active IML’s working overseas on a regular basis each year in a wide variety of locations.
Whats Included?
The course price includes instruction only. You will need to to arrange your own transport and accommodation and we will meet in the village of Les Angles on the first morning of the course.
