Award Description
This qualification trains and assesses candidates in the skills required to lead hillwalking groups in summer conditions on mountainous routes not requiring the planned use of a rope. Established in 1964, this was the first qualification created by Mountain Training.
The course is based at Marle Hall Outdoor Centre and takes place in the mountains of Snowdonia. All food and accommodation is provided, and equipment can be borrowed if needed.
A discount is offered to current members of university hillwalking/mountaineering clubs (contact the centre for details).
