Award Description

This qualification trains and assesses candidates in the skills required to lead hillwalking groups in summer conditions on mountainous routes not requiring the planned use of a rope. Established in 1964, this was the first qualification created by Mountain Training.

Courses are based in Llanberis to give great access to the mountains. I run all courses myself with the help of a few other highly experienced instructors. Whether you have signed up for Assessment or Training we always aim to create a relaxed environment that allows you to perform at your best. 

There is usually an option of accommodation for £10 a night at a local mountaineering club hut. It is a lovely cottage with great kitchen facilities, drying room and a logburning stove in the lounge.

This is a modular course, run over two three day weekends.
