Geology of Glen Nevis
This one-day geology workshop (provided by the NEVIS LANDSCAPE PARTNERSHIP) ideal for local members looking to top up their knowledge of the area.
Brief description of the day:
A moderately strenuous outing exploring the geology of Glen Nevis, from ‘Roaring Mill’ at the start of the glen then visiting more roadside localities as we journey by minibus up Glen Nevis. It finishes by walking through the spectacular Nevis Gorge and, if time allows, making an ascent of Meall Cumhann (698m) - a hill overlooking the Nevis Gorge - from Old Steall. The itinerary will be shortened accordingly for weather or time.
Level of fitness: Moderate fitness required. Please wear walking boots and bring normal hillwalking gear including clothing suitable for the weather and full waterproofs, rucksack, lunch, water/flask and any personal medication.
Workshop Trainer: The day will be led by Noel Williams, recipient of the Scottish Award for Excellence in Mountain Culture in 2019 and one of the founders of Lochaber Geopark.
