This qualification trains and assesses candidates in the skills required to lead hillwalking groups in summer conditions on mountainous routes not requiring the planned use of a rope. Established in 1964, this was the first qualification created by Mountain Training.
The Mountain Leader qualification is the outdoor industries gold standard award. The dedication required is high and I love sharing the journey with others as they undertake the training and progress towards assessment. Watching people perform well and succeed on assessment is one of the greatest highlights of my work.
The training course is a fantastic 6 days (60 hours), which is mostly spent out in the mountains learning in the elements alongside likeminded people. The training also includes a 2-day, 1-night camping expedition where we need to be self-sufficient.
Accommodation available at the outdoor centre for £100 for the course duration which includes the night before the course.
I will be the course director and will get to spend most of the course with you and a second member of staff will work one or two days of the course too. My previous clients say great things about the course which you can read here:
