Award Description

This qualification trains and assesses candidates in the skills required to supervise climbers on purpose built artificial climbing walls and boulders. The scheme does not include the skills and techniques required to teach lead climbing.

The Climbing Wall Instructor (formerly Climbing Wall Award) course run by Leading Edge trains and assesss you in the skills required to supervise climbers on purpose built artificial climbing walls and boulders. It is ideal for people who work at climbing walls or at venues with permanent or mobile climbing towers. A Leading Edge training course is modern, it is very up to date looking at all the required skills. You will get hands on with lots of different equipment, explore many teaching techniques all in as practical, interactive and engaging way as possible. We ensure you leave inspired and motivated, with a clear picture of what you need to do personally to qualify as a Climbing Wall Instructor.  We will meet at Caban Cafe, Brynrefail Llanberis on the first morning and start the course with an informal chat and an outline of the scope of the Climbing Wall Instructor Award, we will then go to one of the local climbing walls for the day. We also offer the bolt on abseil module which takes place on the afternoon on the second day.
