About

Rigging Tyrolean’s– The Fundamentals

Venue North Wales

Tyrolean traverses are often used as either part of an adventurous activity such as gorge scrambling,  underground mine exploration or as a standalone activity. It is not just MIA holders that deliver this exciting activity, but includes SPA/ RC / ML and Level 2 mine leaders.

Training, guidance, CPD, sharing of knowledge and hands on experience can be difficult to obtain for many MTA members. Therefore, MTA have addressed this by providing a workshop that gives an insight, serves as a training package and provides a great opportunity to share knowledge and up skill.

This day will look at the fundamentals of rigging Tyrolean’s, core principles, the equipment used, loads subjected to that equipment, safe working loads, 1 rope and 2 rope systems, different ways of tensioning systems and simple rescues.

After an initial discussion based session it will be a hands on workshop. It is an ideal workshop for those that have never rigged Tyrolean’s to those that have a basic / intermediate understanding and would like to learn more or refresh and be up to date with current thinking within an outdoor adventure setting.

The workshop will not cover zip wire systems complex Tyrolean’s or Tyrolean’s used for rescue situations such as mountain rescue.
