Award Description

This qualification trains and assesses candidates in the skills required to supervise climbers on single pitch crags and climbing walls. Common activities undertaken by Rock Climbing Instructor will be roped climbing and bouldering. This scheme does not include the skills and techniques required to teach lead climbing.

This qualification is all about supervising safe climbing and abseiling sessions on single pitch crags and artificial structures. Whether you're a parent, a volunteer or an outdoor centre instructor, the Rock Climbing Instructor qualification trains and assesses experienced rock climbers to instruct climbing.

It will be a 3 day course with 1 day spent at an indoor climbing facilities, ususally the first day and the other 2 days out on the crag.

We'll be using some of the fanatstic climbing venues in the locality such as Scugdale, Wainstones, Brimham Rocks etc. As well as one of the excellent indoor climbing facilities , ROF59 Climbing Centre.

Before you book onto a Rock Climbing Instructor training course, make sure you have done the following:

• You must be registered on the scheme.

You must have an up to date logbook (preferably DLOG) with evidence of the following:

• 15 led routes which must be graded rock climbs with traditional protection.
• 15 led routes at a climbing wall.
• 5 led routes which must be outdoor bolt protected sport climbs.
