Award Description

The Hill & Mountain Skills scheme is a great way to develop your personal skills and confidence in all elements of hill and mountain walking. From planning a coastal walk to navigating in complex terrain, these courses are an ideal opportunity to learn the basics and enjoy the countryside. THIS IS NOT THE HILL AND MOORLAND LEADER SCHEME.

The Location:

This course will be based in the Upper Swansea Valley, giving easy access to the best walking areas in the Western Brecon Beacons. It is accessed easily from the M4 and there are a wide range of accommodation options available close by. The area is blessed with a variety of mountainous terrain to explore, giving us an ideal location to help you learn the skills and knowledge required to enjoy the mountains safely on your own.

The Course:

We like to keep things practical and enjoyable, building strong foundations indoors on the first morning, then heading out to give you as many learning opportunities as we can, as well as providing the best experience possible. Our courses are tailored to focus on people and their needs, recognising that everyone is on their own learning journey.

We are experienced outdoor professional with a background in providing training and support for organisations and individuals in Walking, Climbing, Caving and Outdoor First Aid. Our trainers receive routine positive feedback from the courses they run, we’re passionate about what we do and work hard to do it well.
