Award Description
The Lowland Leader qualification has been designed for people who wish to lead groups on day walks in lowland countryside and woodland in summer conditions. The majority of the UK and Ireland is made up of this type of terrain so you'll never be short of places to go walking.
This course is designed for people with some walking experience who wish to lead groups on day walks on footpaths, trails and in lowland countryside and woodland in summer conditions anywhere in the UK and Ireland. The separate Training and Assessment courses are based on the Lowland Leader Syllabus set out by Mountain Training. You will need to be registered with the ML and create an account on their Candidate Management System (CMS) and log your experience via the DLOG system. You should complete this before the course. Ten varied walks in Lowland terrain where the use of a map is required is the minimum level of experience for attendance on this course. The course fee includes necessary specialist equipment, instruction, transport whilst on the course and course administration. Residential courses include self-catering accommodation. Not included is transport to and from Plas Pencell ior personal accident insurance. The Centre holds Professional Indemnity and 3rd party liability insurance policies.
