Award Description
The Hill & Mountain Skills scheme is a great way to develop your personal skills and confidence in all elements of hill and mountain walking. From planning a coastal walk to navigating in complex terrain, these courses are an ideal opportunity to learn the basics and enjoy the countryside. THIS IS NOT THE HILL AND MOORLAND LEADER SCHEME.
Based in Lancashire hills with great walking this is a 2 day Mountain Training Hill Skills Course.
The course will cover all the basic skills to get out and about in the UK hills. The course will include navigation, equipment, clothing, weather, emergency procedures and some great hill walking.
The Hill Skills course is your key to getting started in countryside and moorland walking. There is no experience of hill walking required to attend a Hill Skills course because the content of the course is aimed at beginners. If you do have some experience of hill walking but aren’t confident about planning walks, navigating and understanding the equipment required, then the Hill Skills course is an ideal way to learn.
The course is a Mountain Training course so registration is required. You will receive a Safety in the Mountains booklet upon registration and gain access to the Digital Logbook on the Candidate Management System so you can log all your activities online.
