This course provides a great opportunity to get to grips with contours so that you can take your navigation skills to the next level.
The ability to accurately interpret and navigate to contour features can often be an area where candidates, and seasoned ML’s alike, can make significant gains in their overall navigation ability. We’ll use contour-only maps as well as a variety of exercises to develop your skills so that you are able to interpret contours to a level of detail that you previously may have thought wasn’t possible. These gains will make significant changes to how you navigate and will enable you to navigate with confidence and precision without an over-reliance on other map features (e.g. paths, tracks, walls, fences, streams etc).
During the course, you’ll get lots of opportunities to ask questions, practice techniques, and get feedback, all with the aim of enabling you to approach your assessment and/or work as a Mountain Leader with much greater confidence.
