Award Description
The Lowland Leader qualification has been designed for people who wish to lead groups on day walks in lowland countryside and woodland in summer conditions. The majority of the UK and Ireland is made up of this type of terrain so you'll never be short of places to go walking.
This two-day course will consider and test the skills, knowledge and experience required to lead groups of novices or less-experienced walkers in lowland terrain, possibly including coastal, forested and more open environments.
We will be based at Tyddyn Crwn, Penmon, on Anglesey, from where we will use the surrounding countryside to explore the issues such as navigation, access, group leadership, dealing with emergencies, equipment, consent and route planning.
This particular course is being run for the Wirral and West Cheshire Expedition Committee Operating Authority (DofE) and friends, although there are limited places available for others wishing to complete the Award.
Full details of the course are available from Andy on andy@andynewtonmic.org.
