Award Description

This qualification trains and assesses candidates in the skills required to lead hillwalking groups in summer conditions on mountainous routes not requiring the planned use of a rope. Established in 1964, this was the first qualification created by Mountain Training.

This course will be run by course director Tom Furey on behalf of Bryn Williams Mountaineering.

The training course is a fantastic 6 days (60 hours), which is mostly spent out in the mountains learning in the elements alongside likeminded people. The training also includes a 2-day, 1-night camping expedition where we need to be self-sufficient.

The course is offered as non-residential which gives you the freedom to choose from a variety of accommodation options in the Llanberis area which will suit all budgets.
