Award Description

The Hill and Moorland Leader award is designed for people who want to lead groups in the hill and moorland areas of the UK and Ireland. This award is a wonderful opportunity to learn the leadership skills required to feel confident about taking people out walking. As you may have guessed from the descriptive title of this award, it focuses on non-mountainous terrain.

About

The ideal qualification for walkers who want to display the skills required for effective group leadership in the Hill and Moorland areas of the UK and Ireland.

It is used extensively by those involved with delivering the Duke of Edinburgh's Award, GirlGuiding and Scouting and Teachers as well as walk leaders and outdoor instructors alike.

Having completed your training course and gained the required experience, you can then attend the 3-day assessment course.

The assessment is practically based with 3 days in the hills plus an evening of night navigation.

There will also be a home research paper to complete and a chance to show your knowledge through the delivery of an added value dscussion topic.
