Award Description

The Lowland Leader qualification has been designed for people who wish to lead groups on day walks in lowland countryside and woodland in summer conditions. The majority of the UK and Ireland is made up of this type of terrain so you'll never be short of places to go walking.

This Lowland Leader training course is set on the stunning Gower peninsular, Britain's first Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, near the city of Swansea. The area is covered with a vast variety of terrain types from woods and moors to farmland and beaches, giving us an ideal location to train you in the skills and knowledge required by the Lowland Leader. There is also a wealth of natural history across the peninsular, human history going back over 36 thousand years and more photogenic views than you can shake a map and compass at!

Our courses are delivered with a style and pace to suit the needs of those attending. We like to keep things practical and fun, so no "death by powerpoint", we cover the basics indoors on the first morning over tea and biscuits, then head out to give you the best experience and as many learning opportunities as possible.

The course will be run by either Gary Evans or Matt Woodfield; two of the best outdoor trainers in the country, sharing over 45 years’ experience as outdoor professionals and a background of business training as well as training for centres and individuals in walking, climbing, caving and other adventure activities.
