Training and Assessing Skills
These two day Mountain Training Scotland workshops are held twice yearly in April/May and November. The courses are staffed by Sandy Paterson and Alan Halewood both trainers and assessors with a long-time involvement with training and assessing on Mountain Training schemes including at Mountaineering Instructor level, between them they have considerable experience of all the Mountain Training Schemes. They are also both passionate about teaching, instructing and coaching in an adventure sports environment.
The workshop is for those involved or interested in becoming involved in working on Mountain Training qualifications. The intention is to allow participants practical opportunities to explore methodologies appropriate to training and assessing Mountain Training qualifications. Whilst the focus will be on the Mountain Training Schemes there will be much covered that can be used in other outdoor settings.
To keep the day as flexible as possible and make best use of conditions, could delegates come dressed and equipped for outdoor sessions ‘on the hill’. Both days will have a split between indoor session and outdoor practical.
