Award Description
This qualification trains and assesses candidates in the skills required to lead hillwalking groups in summer conditions on mountainous routes not requiring the planned use of a rope. Established in 1964, this was the first qualification created by Mountain Training.
A great opportunity to explore the high fells of the Lake District and the undiscovered mountains of the Galloway Forest, all while learning the skills to become a Mountain Leader.
On the first weekend we'll be based in the High Street and Helvellyn ranges of the Lake District ((August 12-14).
For the second part of the training course we'll be in the Galloway Hills (August 26-28).
Candidates must take part in both weekends to have completed the Mountain Leader training course.
