About

This will be an interactive workshop and peer review. Both practical and discussion based, featuring a number of topics related to client safety and rope work.
It is expected that although the sessions will be led, all attendees will actively contribute to each workshop session, exchanging ideas and experiences. Guides’ ski touring equipment for glaciated terrain will be required.
The meeting point on day one will be in the Chamonix valley and will communicated to attendees via Yammer and will be weather dependent. We will perform the workshop both on the hill and at a Chamonix valley location to be decided.

Topics to include and be led by:

Day one
• Crevasse rescue. Both with and without Ski’s (Mark Charlton)
• Modern ropes, characteristics and common practice (Mark Charlton)

Day two
• Snow condition resources and interpretation for avalanche forecasting (Mark Charlton)
• Ski Belays (Mark Charlton)
• Protecting clients on steep ski ground (Mark Charlton)
