BMG - Pre Ski Season CPD
This will be great to start off the ski season and an opportunity for practical and technical updates from experienced Guides and input from a leading backcountry ski supplier.
There is to be a small charge (£15-20) depending on numbers and paid on the day.
Outline Programme with approximate times:
09.00 – 09.30am - Welcome and refreshments
Introductions and outline for the day.
09.30 – 10.30 - Update of Latest Equipment.
Phil Evans from Backcountry UK to lead:
• New to market equipment.
• Latest trends and developments.
10.30 – 1200 – Binding Set Up and Compatibility.
Phil Evans from Backcountry UK to lead with a focus on:
• Setting up and safety checking popular touring bindings.
• Boot/binding compatibility issues and industry standards etc
1200-1300- Working Lunch
Bring a packed lunch in-order to continue discussion from the morning presentations. There is a supermarket nearby if required.
13.00 – 1430 – Aiguille Ski Rescue Sled.
Al Powell will lead:
• Ski rescue sled presentation - Aiguille equipment will provide either a prototype or a final production model of the new ski rescue sled that Al Powell & others have been testing and developing last winter. An opportunity to experiment, how it's used and the design features. The target weight for the sled is 695g and first production run is end Sept/early Oct, there is still time for folk to order one, but orders needed before the CPD day - £250 incl VAT and UK postage.
1430 – 1530 - Current Ski Guiding Issues.
Al Powell will lead:
• Ski guiding and Covid issues for the upcoming season - workshop and group discussion. Overview of the current situation.
• Travel issues with UK and EU planning. Vaccination status in different countries, higher and lower risk countries for work etc. – i.e., need to share as much information as possible.
• Other current and topical issues
1530 - 1630 - Wash-up on the day.
Open forum, topical issues brought up by members attending.
