Award Description
The Hill and Moorland Leader award is designed for people who want to lead groups in the hill and moorland areas of the UK and Ireland. This award is a wonderful opportunity to learn the leadership skills required to feel confident about taking people out walking. As you may have guessed from the descriptive title of this award, it focuses on non-mountainous terrain.
Our courses are informative and fun; whether training or assessment we aim to ensure you leave more knowledgeable, skilled and a better leader as a result of the experience.
Note - This course will include an evening online session approximately 1 week prior to the course start date.
Training is a 3 day course covers all aspects of the syllabus which includes:
The course is very practical and is conducted in the environment you may expect to take groups. To attend you must have registered for the award, be an experienced hill walker and have logged 20 quality Hill walks (as defined by Mountain training) on the DLOG.
The course is run on Dartmoor National Park, making the best the stunning scenery and fantastic walking available. Over three days the majority of the syllabus will be covered through practical exercises, scenarios and discussions carefully crafted to help you gain the knowledge and confidence to become great walk leader in addition to laying a clear pathway to assessment.
