Award Description
The Lowland Leader qualification has been designed for people who wish to lead groups on day walks in lowland countryside and woodland in summer conditions. The majority of the UK and Ireland is made up of this type of terrain so you'll never be short of places to go walking.
About
This course is based at Swindon Local Authority's Outdoor Education Centre Plas Pencelli in the Brecon Beacons. It is a large well equipped centre with extensive attractive grounds. It is an ideal central position in the Brecon Beacons National Park and in Wales means that many venues are accessible. The award has been designed for people with some walking experience who wish to lead groups on day walks on footpaths, trails and in lowland countryside and woodland in summer conditions anywhere in the UK and Ireland. The separate Training and Assessment courses are based on the Lowland Leader Syllabus set out by Mountain Training.
