WORKSHOP CONTENT & LEARNING OUTCOMES
Spend the day learning about the Archaeology of the Yorkshire Dales from from the earliest hunters of the Palaeolithic through to twentieth century industrial remains.
We will explore the area of Malham and Malham tarn, which provide a microcosom of the Archaeology of the Yorkshire Dales as a whole, during an approximate 8 mile walk.
By the end of the day you will:
have a broad understanding of the archaeological periods of the Yorkshire Dales
be able to describe how they have shaped the landscapes
be able to identify selected archaeological remains
be aware of online resources for further personal investigations
be provided with course notes and field cards for future use (these will also be going up on the MTA members resources area)
EQUIPMENT/KIT REQUIRED
Attendees will need to be equipped for a days walking within a moorland environment and the conditions forecast including the relevant maps.
You will need to provide your own lunch and snacks.
Cafes/shops are available in Malham.

Iain is an independent archaeologist with over 25 years of experience in commercial, academic and community archaeolgy across 4 continents. He runs free archaeological workshops for the MTA acorss the country and regularly contributes to The Professional Mountaineer.
