Award Description
This qualification trains and assesses candidates in the skills required to lead hillwalking groups in summer conditions on mountainous routes not requiring the planned use of a rope. Established in 1964, this was the first qualification created by Mountain Training.
Our Mountain Leader assessment courses are Directed by Bryn Williams, a highly experienced mountaineering instructor, trainer / assessor with additional course staff delivering some elements of the assessment.
We'll use venues all around Snowdonia and typically car share to and from venues. There is a home paper to complete as part of the process which gest sent out with the joining info a couple of weeks before the course.
The course is offered as non-residential and meets up each morning at a cafe close to Llanberis (apart from when you are out on the camping phase - sorry!). The first two days cover navigation, leadership and ropework, then the expedition phase will run from day 3-5.
