Award Description
This qualification trains and assesses candidates in the skills required to supervise climbers on single pitch crags and climbing walls. Common activities undertaken by Rock Climbing Instructor will be roped climbing and bouldering. This scheme does not include the skills and techniques required to teach lead climbing.

TO ATTEND THIS COURSE YOU MUST HAVE COMPLETED CWI TRAINING OR ASSESSMENT.
The Rock Climbing Instructor (Outdoor only) training course run over two days which is spent on the crags. The days are run from 9-5pm on each day.
To attend the course you'll need to be registered for the Rock Climbing Instructor scheme with Mountain Training and have the following climbing experience before attending the training course:
- Attended CWI Training or Assessment
- 15 led routes which must be graded rock climbs on trad
- 15 led routes at a climbing wall.
- 5 led routes which must be outdoor bolt protected sport climbs.
