Hill Skills Course Outline

  • Developing an understanding of how to plan low level walks.
  • Becoming familiar with the use of a map and compass.
  • Understanding the weather on the hills and how this differs to normal forecasts.
  • Dealing with emergencies while out walking.
  • Learning about the upland environment.
  • Course review and feedback.

The Hill Skills Course develops skills in countryside and moorland areas and these will be applicable to many walking areas in the UK and Ireland. This is ideal for parents who want to build their children’s independence by allowing them to plan the walks. You will feel confident that they know how to look after themselves in the future whilst walking in the hills

The courses are done on a personal level tailored to your needs. They are run in Snowdonia normally around the Conwy and Llanberis valleys

I normally run the course with a maximum of 4 (to keep it personal and maintain the quality so you get the most out of the weekend) and a minimum of 2 people, generally no more then 4 unless it is a group and then it can be individually organised by contacting with dates and numbers.

If you find none of the above dates are suitable it may be possible to arrange an individual date. Simply contact me with your requirements. Accommodation can be provided which is private bunk house style. which is £15 a night so typical coast for £30 for the course.

Suitable areas of accommodation are Bangor, Bethesda, Conwy.
