Incident Management for Adventure Professionals.
Course Overview.
Incidents are a common occurrence in Adventurous Activities, ranging from those that cause a minor inconvenience to those that lead to significant harm and potentially damaging outcomes.
As outdoor professionals we must, therefore, be able to deal effectively with incidents. Especially those which are likely in our operating environment. Incidents when they occur, place significant pressure and stress on a leader and require fast thinking and effective problem solving, often this will be required in complex and dynamic situations.

This course will focus on those incident management skills that form the bridge between our professional prowess (leading, guiding, coaching and instruction) and first aid aptitude, covering topics such as, communication, casualty and group management, stabilisation of a situation and facilitating clear and logical thinking and problem solving when under pressure.
The Course will provide a certificate with list of all learning outcomes covered. Please not this is not a First Aid course but will cover aspects of first aid. it is therefore not suitable as a FA refresher.
Start time 08:45 sharp. Finish approx 17:30.
Please come prepared for a full day outdoor whatever the weather. Please also bring any incident management kit that you might normally carry (comms, first aid, shelter etc)

JASON TAYLOR - Tirio Cyf
Jason spent his formative years in the RAF Mountain Rescue Service where he qualified as a Mountain Rescue Team Leader and Search and Rescue Paramedic (Pre-HCPC), ultimately acting as the Medical Training Officer for the 6 UK based RAF Rescue Teams.In this time he was twice commended for lifesaving in Mountain Rescue. In the later part of his military career he commissioned as a communications engineering officer, completing a number of operational deployments in Afghanistan. He currently delivers wilderness first aid training to over 400 outdoor professional per year. He is a Rescue 3 Europe Instructor, ML(S) and Advanced Canoe Leader.
LEO HOARE - Getafix Ltd
Before he founded Getafix in 2007 he spent 8 years working at Plas Y Brenin. Leo has a solid reputation within the outdoor activity sector for providing paddlesports coach education and outdoor first aid training and assessment courses. He has been a certified trainer for both Rescue 3 Europe and Rescue Emergency Care for 20 years.
