WORKSHOP CONTENT & LEARNING OUTCOMES
The Be Avalanche Aware course is aimed at members who are winter hill users that already have some winter walking experience whether for personal enjoyment or on their journey to gain the Winter Mountain Leader qualifications, it would also suit Winter Mountain Leaders who are keen to refresh and update their knowledge.
The presentation format takes place over two consecutive evenings (approx. 2 hours each) and includes some ‘homework’ to help consolidate your learning. Each evening starts online (Zoom) at 19:00.
Session 1: Mon 24th Jan 1900-2100
Session 2: Tue 25th Jan 1900-2100
This course will review the Be Avalanche Aware process and run through a series of exercises to help develop your understanding of snowpack development and avalanche hazard evolution. These are the foundation skills for making good route planning decisions prior to going on the hill.
This course provides a unique opportunity to benefit from both an SAIS forecaster and an active WMCI experience and knowledge, offering insights from their work in respect of hazard evaluation, public forecasting and knowledge of the dynamics and challenges in a Scottish winter.

Internet connection, notepad and pen.

CANCELLATION PROCEDURE
This workshop needs a minimum of 9 bookings to run. Attendees will be notified of cancellations if minimum numbers are not reached, If MTA cancel the workshop a full refund will be given.
If you are unable to attend the workshop, if cancellations are received up to 4 weeks before the course a 50% refund will be given less than 4 weeks before the course date: no refund will be issued.
