About

This two day workshop is for people who are interested in the Mountaineering and Climbing Instructor (MCI) qualification and would like to know more. The jump from Mountain Leader to the MCI can seem massive, the idea of these two days is to give you an insight and introduction to the many elements that are involved in the MCI.

The focus will very much be on what being a Mountaineering and Climbing Instructor is, looking at the combination of personal and professional skills to allow for the taking of people multi pitch climbing, roped scrambling and we will also look at some of the key building blocks of improvised rescue. We will get familiar with the generics of the scheme, in particular the decision making and risk assessing.

The two days give you the opportunity to ask anything and everything you would like to know about the MCI. We hope to dispel some of the myths and give you a realistic idea of what is needed to get the most out of the MCI and see if it could be for you.

An excellent workshop for those thinking about progressing on their professional journey but are unsure about if the MCI is a good fit for them. Lots of opportunities to ask any and every question surrounding the scheme.

Expected learning outcomes:

A very clear understanding of the Mountaineering and Climbing Instructor qualification.
The scope of it, the requirements and expected standard for training and assessment.
